Weekend away

Dean and I headed to Waiheke Island on the weekend to celebrate our 5th Wedding anniversary. We had a lovely time, although we missed Nathan who was at home with Nanny Mard and Poppa Dunc. They took him to the zoo and he had lots of fun. Will post some pics of his adventure when mum emails them.

One of the 26 or so vineyards on Waiheke Island. Dean wanted to track this one down after tasting one of their Merlot's and becoming a fan.

Getting to taste the Merlot grape before it get's harvested in three weeks time and turned into wine

Having a taste of the final product. They produce two different Merlot's and a Rose. By the way we are not wine snobs and really have no clue, but it was nice to see where it all happens. And like the guy there said, if you like the taste of an $80 bottle go for it, but if you like the taste of a $5 bottle nothing wrong with that, it's all about what you like! I agree.

Celebrating 5 years marriage, what an awesome 5 years it has been :-)

Busy Boy

Well Nathan has quite the busy lifestyle. His average week consists of...
Monday: Rest Day
Tuesday: Swimming Lessons & afternoon visit to see Ayla
Wednesday: Baby on Board movies (more for mum than bubs)
Thursday: Playgroup & visit from Ayla
Friday: Mainly Music or Mops group
Saturday: Hang out with the whanau
Sunday: Church

In amongst all this activity he still finds time for two naps a day, isn't he lucky!
Here are some pics from Swimming where they're learning to go under the water, climb up on to the side of the pool and lots of other fun stuff.

Nathan and Moses

Moses won't drink water out of a bowl, he has to have it straight out of the tap

Moses follows us to the park

A cuddle for Moses

Another cuddle ( more like a squash!)

Poor Moses gets his tail pulled at least a few times a day, he's quite tolerant considering what he get's put through by the little man

Two long weekends and a holiday in between

Well we decided to take advantage of the two long weekends so Dean took the four days off in between. So off we went and headed back to Te Kaha for the week. After the rain during the previous week the creek had risen, luckily Dad was there the day before we arrived to shovel all the silt away so we could get through. It meant that there were some great new swimming spots a bit deeper than at Christmas. The blackberries were out yum yum, and the snapper were biting in abundance yum yum yum!! On Sunday Dean went to Te Teko to play golf and go to the races with his Uni mate Tiaki. We had a few days during the week to ourselves where we had the luxury of taking over mum and dads caravan, which was good timing as it rained all day on Wednesday. Thursday we went for a walk to the Whanarua Falls and then down to the bay for a swim. Dean walked around the rocks and got us a few paua and kina. Friday a few more of the whanau turned up to do a bit more work around the place.

West Coast Beaches

Well since I'm now a Westie I have had the pleasure of discovering some of the west coast beaches. I have to say the black sand thing is hard to get used to, but all in all they're pretty cool. In the last two weekends we have visited Piha and Muriwai. Both known for being pretty rugged. Piha is good for Nathan as there is an Estuary to take him swimming in, but he did enjoy splashing in the beach yesterday at Muriwai.

Two trips to Muriwai... Friday and Sunday...

A day at Piha...

Christmas Day

Well we had a great Christmas day with Nathan. He got far too many presents for someone who isn't really that fazed, he he! It was a big day but lots of fun with the family. He got to bed at about 10.30pm. We're off on holiday tomorrow so will not be able to update blog for a couple of weeks. We're going to have a great time camping... Check in after the 11th to see how it all went.
Have a safe and happy new year ya'll.
