Last holiday as family of 3

Well in around 8 weeks time we will be a family of four, and holidaying will involve even more packing and a whole new dynamic with two kiddies. Also with Dean doing lots of work at work and lots of work around the house he decided to take a few days off and we headed up North to Coopers Beach. The weather was pleasant and allowed us to do a lot and rest a lot.
Here's what we did...
-Trips to beach to make sandcastles
-Dean did some house painting for his Dad
-I did some little projects I wanted to get done for Nathan's room and our new office
-Nathan played with homemade playdough
-Ate fish and chips at Mangonui fish shop (the best!!)
-Fishing (no luck this time round)
-DVD watching
-Afternoon Naps
-Took lots of photos as you can see...

10 Weeks to go

I had a midwife appointment today, they will be fortnightly from now on. I told Nathan we were off to hear baby's heartbeat, and over dinner he said to Dad "Baby's heart". Everything is going good, other than a bit of back pain and other typical aches and pains. I need to get off my behind and do some exercise, that's what I really need to do, but will I, hmmm that is the question :) Still got over 2 months to go which is good still got a bit of time up our sleeves. Should go out for dinner a couple of times and maybe a movie or something to make the most of it.

Project 3 - Part 1

Project 3 is turning the garage into the office/rumpus area. It was a storage nightmare, just randomly filled with everything. This meant we needed to find somewhere else for it all which we did in the form of a cool timber garden shed. So once we emptied it all out, it was ready to put the ranch slider in. Now that that's done we're ready (well Dean is) to paint the walls, then we'll get some flooring done, and shift everything in. Thanks to Mum, Dad and Uncle Dan for coming up to help with it all. I felt pretty hopeless not being able to do much, but yay for awesome family who are happy to help!! I'll post part 2 once we've got it all set up... Be a few weeks off but keep an eye out :)

Nesting Obsessions

As some of you may know with pregnancy there is the 'nesting instinct' that kicks in at a certain point. See description below...

"Nesting Instinct
Around the fifth month of pregnancy, the "nesting" instinct can set in. This is an uncontrollable urge to clean one's house brought on by a desire to prepare a nest for the new baby, to tie up loose ends of old projects and to organize your world."

Mine has been around for a little while, it doesn't really involve too much cleaning but has seen me come up with all sorts of things that need doing around the house. Big things, like building a fence, improving our little back courtyard, and turning the garage into the office/rumpus area (yet to be started). Of course these are quite big tasks, and things I can't really do myself, so my poor husband gets roped into most of the work. But he does such a great job and know's i'm not just being a crazed nesting pregnant woman, but that it will genuinely improve our house and it's value, and help us fit one more little person into it :) Nesting really is a crazy aspect of pregnancy, but helps to get things done!

The Kids and Kael

I was trying to get a pic of them kissing Kael, but the camera would always click straight after they had, but you can see how stoked Ayla is with her little brother :)

Dinner with Ayla

Tonight while Dean and Troy were off to the Chilli's concert Nathan and I went over and had dinner with Lisa, Ayla and Kael. Nathan took a liking to Ayla's hair ties, and looked quite cute with his hair up :) We didn't stay too long because as much as these two love each other to bits at the moment they are fighting constantly, wanting what the other has, and Nathan is just straight out too rough with Ayla. It has been a bit frustrating as going to visit Kale is not a very relaxing affair!! Hopefully they will play nice soon!!!

Trip to Whangarei

Today we went to Whangarei to do an inspection of our rental property up there. Dean had to do his handyman thing fixing a downpipe, and a couple of other things need doing, but overall things are going good. After all that it was down to the town basin for fish and chips and an ice cream.

Lunch at the Zoo

On Friday we went and renewed our Friends of the Zoo pass that Nathan's two Nanas got him for his birthday. It's so handy as it means we can just pop in whenever we feel like it even for an hour. So we called in had some lunch and cruised around half the zoo.

Nathan's Mates

Even though Nathan doesn't go to school the holidays mean all the activities we go to aren't on. Since it's been a couple of weeks since we've seen anyone I thought we'd get a couple of our friends around who we would normally meet up with during the week at Playgroup and Mainly music. He had loads of fun with Jessie and Patrick, and I had a good catch up with their mum's Jan and Jenny. The boys are a little bit older than Nathan and taught him a few tricks, like escaping out through the gate.

Blobby Weekend

Last weekend when we got home from our holiday we spent most of Saturday in our P.J's as I had come down with a tummy bug which was horrible!! While it was not fun for me in my P.J's, here's Nathan having fun in his P.j's

Hanging out with Luca

Yesterday we went for a walk around the Mount. The nanas pushed the bubs while Erin and I used all our energy chatting. After that we felt we deserved an icecream at the beach. Oh and later on a pie at the park. I guess we didn't walk to lose weight!!

Poppa's boat

On Monday Mum and Dad went out fishing, I took Nathan down to see them come in. They got four snapper.

Ok so I'm about 25 weeks along with just over 3 months to go, so heading into my '3rd trimester' in preggie techno speak. Feeling good except I get full easily, still try and eat the same as usual though, so suffer for it :) Feeling lots of movement. My mum has got the same dishwashing liquid as I had back when I was feeling queezy and man it brings those memories straight back when I smell it, so while I'm down here in the Mount I get out of the dishes :) Handy thing smell association isn't it.

Easter Sunday & Nana's birthday

Yesterday we went over to Taupo for my Nana's birthday. For her present we got some of the lads in the whanau to do up her gardens. We also had a lovely Roast lunch.

Nathan got a Spongebob Easter egg in a cup. Here he is having a drink of milk in his cup on Good Friday morning at his Nanny and Poppa's house in the Mount.







The Weather has been beautiful, we spent a while at the beach before taking some sand home for the sandpit. Dean and Dad went fishing this day too, didn't catch too many fish though.



Saturday night Dean and I went out for dinner. The Jazz festival is on every year in Tauranga over Easter so thought we'd go out and enjoy some of the music and food. The band we thought was playing wasn't but these guys were pretty good, they played a bit of Gypsy Kings. The food at the restaurant was good too. We then headed to Erin and Logans where we chatted and watched a bit of Super 14.

Good Friday Baby

We were a bit bummed to have missed him by a day as we headed to the Mount on Thursday and our new nephew Kael arrived on Friday morning. But very excited about his arrival and that he is a healthy, gorgeous boy. Congratulations Lisa and Troy!!! Looking forward to meeting him.
